We observe the 100th Birthday of Pete Seeger’s birth with a special album introduction concert! Who better to celebrate Pete Seeger than two of his long-time friends, fellow sailing and singing partners - singer-songwriter-storyteller-instrumentalists Capt. Rick Nestler and Rik Palieri – known onstage as The RIX.

Both Nestler and Palieri sang for decades with Pete Seeger from the ‘70s forward, often through Sloop Clearwater and the Clearwater Sloop Singers, from the late ’70s. So it’s particularly fitting that they honor Seeger’s 100th Birthday with a special collection of maritime songs culled from traditional and borrowed songs that Pete sang about waterways: “High Barbary,” “Hudson Whalers,” “Blow the Man Down,” “The E-RI-E,” “Pay Me My Money Down,” “Reuben James” and “River That Flows Both Ways,” the last a Hudson River anthem by Rick Nestler.

The Rix also included some of Pete’s own, less well-known songs, like “The Ballad Of The Sloop Clearwater,” “Don’t Ask What a River is For,” “The Song of The Last Whale,” “The Sloop Woody Guthrie” and many more!

To conjure the hearty authenticity and spirit of singing on the ocean, or on board sailing the Hudson River, they included a few of Pete’s friends who, like Rick and Ric, sailed, sang and recorded alongside him: Guy Davis, David Bernz, Sarah Underhill and Melissa Ortquist – and you never know who will join them onstage!
