“An American folk master...heart and unfettered perfection”

- SIRIUS XM RADIO

“Resonant, honey-rich voice...open-hearted humanity”

- WFUV-fm, New York, NY

International touring musician, award-winning songwriter, and celebrated vocalist, Joe Jencks is known for his performances of musical beauty, social consciousness and spiritual exploration.

Merging conservatory training with his Irish roots and working-class upbringing, Joe delivers engaged musical narratives filled with heart, soul, groove and grit. Blending well-crafted instrumentals and vivid songwriting, Jencks serves it all up with a lyric baritone voice that has the edgy richness of a good sea-salt caramel.

Having penned several #1 Folksongs including the ever-relevant and gorgeous “Lady of The Harbor,” Jencks has become a fan favorite throughout North America and certainly here at The Step. Co-founder and primary vocal arranger for the harmony trio Brother Sun, he has appeared on our stages solo, for Sonny Ochs’ 80th Birthday, with labor legend Si Kahn, and last November for a gala celebration of our 50th season featuring Brother Sun folk legend Holly Near.

From coffeehouses to Carnegie Hall, Jencks has made a mark on the American music scene, singing and telling stories that educate, illuminate, and uplift.
